I've been trying to give myself some time to sketch when I'm not sending out job applications or NaNoing.
Just a variety of things. A lot of it's kind of world-building sketches. And a few characters I feel like I've neglected for a while. SO YEAH.

Some doodles of the cast of Kees Family Crest. I need to find a better name for that project. Anyway, this was mostly to get a better idea of what Gragoloon looks like.

I felt like I was ignoring Toby and Misty and got the urge to redesign their uniforms. They needed to both allow for easy movement and be protective. Still need some tweaks.

Oh, hey, and here're the twins sporting them. And Liam. He doesn't look too happy about it.

A recurring problem I have is getting Blythe to look like himself when he doesn't have his sunglasses on. Oh, and there are little werewolf sketches. There may or may not be a reason for that.

Their faces seem to get more and more dragon-like every time I draw the Orveda. I consider this a good thing! I totally almost forgot they had horns haw haw.

Some fairytale-inspired doodles.

So then I started trying to figure out angel wings.

More playing. Angels' wings don't...actually sparkle. I was just bored. Also, tried out horns on demons. I figure it's probably a recessive trait on them, but that could change.

Wantiak and merfolk. There's probably some schism with the wantiak between the younger rebellious generations who cut their hair short and integrate into stationary society, and the more traditional nomads. I imagine Chimok falls somewhere in between the two. Also, mermaids! Everybody loves mermaids! Their ears always gave me trouble, but I think I've finally settled on something I like.

Oh my world, I have ignored these two for way too long, which is a shame since they are so fun. Chim doesn't have the little tufts of hair on his ears like most wantiak do. And Gibbit...is just Gibbit. But yeah, still trying to figure out wtf they wear, redesigned the water mage mark and I tried redesigning their business card but couldn't remember exactly what it said. BUT YOU KNOW WHAT?

I found the old design, and it is TOTALLY SEXY. I might change the flowers, though. They strike me as a bit over-the-top fancy.

And at this point I was just drawing whatever. Lolita, random person, Dio Maela and a failed Artie.

I was watching a bunch of old movies a while ago, starting with Nosferatu at my brother's recommendation and The Seventh Seal at Karen's. And I totally fell in love with the latter, so I've been trying to hunt down some more of Bergman's work. I can't help but feel like The Face/The Magician in some way inspired The Illustionist. Maybe it was Max van Sydow and Edward Norton's facial hair. Oh, and the whole magic performer thing. So hey, I'm all for more recommendations for old movies.
In other news, I have an interview at Borders on Tuesday. Hope that goes well.
I'm out. Keep it classy.
